The 2007 ROAR Off-Road Nationals were held at ARCOR raceway in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the
same track which hosted the 2004 ROAR Modified Nationals. There were many similarities between
the two races: the facility is top notch, with covered pit areas surrounding the track with a
tall, sturdy drivers' stand; an incredibly high-traction surface, which led to extreme tire and
parts wear; and of course the dry desert heat that only became hotter as the week went on. New
this year was the combined races: whereas before the modified and stock nationals were always
held as separate events, this year's race had stock, modified,19 turn classes, and even a
brushless/li-po demonstration class.

The big news is that Ryan Cavalieri won all three modified classes, a feat not accomplished
since Brian Kinwald did it in 1997. Cavalieri won the first two mains in 2wd and truck, and
won the second and third races of 4wd. Jared Tebo was the only racer to beat Cavalieri in a
heads-up race, winning the first A in 4wd. Qualifiying and Full results will be posted later.

There were several personnel changes at this year's race. It was great to see Gil Losi Jr.
back at the track racing, but strange to see him in the red Kyosho shirt. Travis Amezcua ran
his first race with the new Hot Bodies Cyclone D4. He ran a B4 and T4 to keep busy. Jeremy
Felles was also there running his own Hot Bodies car and supporting Travis. With Kyosho
having purchased Team Orion, motor guru Joe Pillars won 19T buggy with a Kyosho RB-5. Rick
Howart, former owner of Peak, attended the event driving Associated and JConcepts vehicles.
