The French National Championship consists of 5 races held throughout France during the year with a points system leading to the Championship. Going into the last round on October 6 & 7, X Factory Team driver Antoine Rossetti held the points lead – all he had to do to win the Championship was to put his X – 5 Squared on the podium in the final event. |
Several other drivers had a chance to win if they could win the last race, including Carl Maignien and Lionel Labber, but for either of them to win, Rossetti would have to finish fourth or below in the final event. After 5 rounds of qualifying, the black and white X – 5 Squared lined up second on the A main grid. |
Rossetti got a good start in A – 1, and motored off to a confident win. In A –2 Antoine broke a front control arm and retired, so it all came down to A – 3 between Rossetti and Carl Magnien. Magnien made an early mistake and Rossetti took the lead. Realizing that all he needed to do is finish third or higher in this race, Antoine slowed his pace, and cruised to a second in A – 3 giving him second in the race overall and the 2007 National Championship. |
