More of Paul's Mods To Accomodate 1-Way

The outdrive bearings of the Losi 1-way sit a bit wider than the outdrive bearings on the diff. In the Instruction Manual's Tuning Section we detail some widening of the bulkhead and belt cover. Paul came up with this additional mod, and it allows even more freedom for the outdrive bearings.

There is a shoulder on the chassis, bulkhead, and top cover which holds the bearings in, keeping them from falling out to the side. This shoulder is too narrow for the Losi 1-way. Therefore, in addition to the widening of the main part of the bulkhead and top cover, we widen the shoulder just a bit too.

The tool is being pushed toward the top of the photo so the flat part of the disc sands off the shoulder. The edge of the tool is not being pushed into the bulkhead to make a cut.

Similarly, the tool is being pushed against the chassis' shoulder to sand it; The edge of the disc is not cutting into the chassis.

We didn't take a photo, but use a different tool (this disc is too large in diameter) to do the same to the top cover. Remember, you only have to remove about .020" from each side. We usually remove material from the cover with an hobby knife -- it turns out rather funky, but the bearings seem to stay put and they are more free.
